How to use date midpoint calculator

  1. Enter the earlier and later calendar dates.
  2. Calculate the elapsed-day interval and its exact halfway point.
  3. Read both neighboring dates when the midpoint falls at noon.

Find the halfway point between two calendar dates, including a midday midpoint for odd-length intervals.

How the result is calculated

Midpoint instant = start midnight + (end midnight − start midnight) ÷ 2

The calculator validates the required dates, units and range before producing a result. Keep the inputs and the selected convention with the output so another person can reproduce it.

How to read your result

Keep the inputs and conventions beside the answer. These values explain what the result measures.

Result fieldMeaning
Exact midpointHalfway through the elapsed interval between the two UTC-midnight anchors.
Neighboring datesThe midnight dates on either side; they coincide when the midpoint is exactly midnight.
Elapsed daysThe original interval without adding an inclusive endpoint.
WORKED EXAMPLE

An odd interval lands between two midnights

January 1 to January 4, 2027 spans three days. Its exact midpoint is January 2 at 12:00 UTC. January 2 and January 3 are the neighboring calendar dates.

Try the example in the calculator above. Change one input at a time and compare the target, interval and selected rules. For a longer explanation read Date Ranges: Overlap, Shared Endpoints and Midpoints.

Conventions to keep with your result

The input dates are mapped to UTC midnight for calendar arithmetic. A midpoint is a planning reference, not an automatically adjusted working-day deadline.

Current dates keep moving forward. Today follows the selected calendar time zone. Rule-based Gregorian dates are generated for the requested year. A fixed input remains the visitor's chosen date. External holiday records require coverage for that year.

Date Midpoint Calculator: frequently asked questions

Is the end date included?

Why can the time be noon?

Half of an odd number of days includes twelve hours.

Are weekends moved automatically?

No. Use the working-day calculator if your organization needs an eligible work date.
