PST to EST Converter

Convert Pacific to Eastern time with a source date, midnight rollover and a choice of fixed standard time or date-aware local zones.

Local mode uses America/Los_Angeles and America/New_York. Fixed mode preserves the literal PST and EST offsets throughout the year.

PST / EST or Pacific / Eastern local time?

PST and EST are fixed standard-time labels. A real Los Angeles or New York meeting can use daylight time instead. Use date-aware mode for the local event; use fixed mode when the supplied offsets explicitly mean PST and EST.

The date-aware converter rejects a source time skipped by a clock change. When a local time occurs twice, select its earlier or later occurrence so the target identifies one exact instant.

How to use pst to est converter

  1. Choose Pacific to Eastern or Eastern to Pacific.
  2. Enter the calendar date and clock time in the source zone.
  3. Select date-aware local zones for a real meeting, or fixed PST/EST for literal standard-time labels.
  4. Read the destination time, full date, UTC offsets and any next-day or previous-day label.

Convert Pacific to Eastern time with a source date, midnight rollover and a choice of fixed standard time or date-aware local zones.

How the result is calculated

Fixed PST → EST: add 3 hours. Date-aware mode: source local date-time → exact UTC instant → destination local date-time.

The calculator validates the required dates, units and range before producing a result. Keep the inputs and the selected convention with the output so another person can reproduce it.

How to read your result

Keep the inputs and conventions beside the answer. These values explain what the result measures.

Result fieldMeaning
Destination time and dateThe same instant displayed in the destination, with next-day or previous-day rollover preserved.
Source and destination offsetsThe explicit UTC relationship used for the selected instant and convention.
Time conventionDate-aware Los Angeles/New York rules or literal fixed PST/EST offsets.
Repeated-time choiceThe earlier or later occurrence when a source local hour happens twice.
WORKED EXAMPLE

Midnight changes the destination date

January 10, 2027 at 11 PM PST is January 11 at 2 AM EST. Converting January 11 at 1 AM EST back gives January 10 at 10 PM PST.

Try the example in the calculator above. Change one input at a time and compare the target, interval and selected rules. For a longer explanation read PST to EST: Dates, Daylight Saving and Meeting Times.

Conventions to keep with your result

Literal PST is UTC−08:00 and EST is UTC−05:00. Date-aware mode uses Los Angeles and New York, including the runtime’s daylight-saving rules. A skipped source time is rejected; a repeated source time needs an earlier/later choice.

Current dates keep moving forward. Today follows the selected calendar time zone. Rule-based Gregorian dates are generated for the requested year. A fixed input remains the visitor's chosen date. External holiday records require coverage for that year.

PST to EST Converter: frequently asked questions

Is Eastern always three hours ahead?

The fixed PST/EST labels differ by three hours. Los Angeles and New York normally do too, but the gap can temporarily differ while their clock changes occur at different UTC instants.

What happens at midnight?

The destination’s date moves to the next or previous calendar date when necessary.

Does this work in later years?

The selected date uses the browser’s available IANA rules rather than a frozen annual offset list. Future rule changes require updated runtime time-zone data.

Are the live clocks always labeled PST and EST?

No. The live local clocks display their current abbreviation and offset, including PDT/EDT when applicable.
