How to use leap years between years

  1. Enter a starting year.
  2. For a range, also enter an ending year on or after it.
  3. Read the matching years and the century rule used.

List all Gregorian leap years within an inclusive start-year and end-year range.

How the result is calculated

Leap year = divisible by 4 and (not divisible by 100 or divisible by 400)

The calculator validates the required dates, units and range before producing a result. Keep the inputs and the selected convention with the output so another person can reproduce it.

How to read your result

Keep the inputs and conventions beside the answer. These values explain what the result measures.

Result fieldMeaning
Next-on-or-after yearThe starting year is returned if it already satisfies the leap-year rule.
Range listEvery matching year inside the inclusive year boundaries.
Century exceptionA year divisible by 100 needs divisibility by 400 to qualify.
WORKED EXAMPLE

2100 breaks the four-year shortcut

2096 is a leap year. 2100 is not divisible by 400 and is not a leap year. The next leap year after 2096 is 2104.

Try the example in the calculator above. Change one input at a time and compare the target, interval and selected rules. For a longer explanation read Leap Years and Month-End Dates: How Calendar Math Works.

Conventions to keep with your result

Years use Gregorian rules from 0001 through 9999. Historical local transitions between calendar systems are outside this model.

Current dates keep moving forward. Today follows the selected calendar time zone. Rule-based Gregorian dates are generated for the requested year. A fixed input remains the visitor's chosen date. External holiday records require coverage for that year.

Leap Years Between Years: frequently asked questions

Is the starting year included?

Yes. If it is a leap year, the next-on-or-after result returns it.

Why is 2400 a leap year?

It is divisible by 400, so the century exception allows February 29.

Are the range endpoints included?

Yes. Both entered years belong to the examined range.
