How to use nth weekday of a month

  1. Choose a reference date in the desired month.
  2. Select a weekday and occurrence number, or choose last.
  3. Calculate; a missing fifth occurrence is reported rather than moved into the next month.

Find the first, second, third, fourth, fifth or last occurrence of a weekday in a chosen month.

How the result is calculated

Nth occurrence = first matching weekday + 7 × (occurrence − 1)

The calculator validates the required dates, units and range before producing a result. Keep the inputs and the selected convention with the output so another person can reproduce it.

How to read your result

Keep the inputs and conventions beside the answer. These values explain what the result measures.

No fifth occurrenceThe month lacks that weekday occurrence; the tool keeps the month fixed.
Last occurrenceThe final matching weekday, which may be the fourth or fifth.
WORKED EXAMPLE

Not every month contains a fifth weekday

February 2027 starts on Monday and has 28 days. Its Mondays are February 1, 8, 15 and 22. There is no fifth Monday; the last Monday is February 22.

Try the example in the calculator above. Change one input at a time and compare the target, interval and selected rules. For a longer explanation read Recurring Dates: Build a Schedule Without Month-End Drift.

Conventions to keep with your result

The selected month stays fixed. This locates a weekday rule and does not establish whether an organization observes a holiday or closes on that date.

Current dates keep moving forward. Today follows the selected calendar time zone. Rule-based Gregorian dates are generated for the requested year. A fixed input remains the visitor's chosen date. External holiday records require coverage for that year.
