How to read your result

Keep the inputs and conventions beside the answer. These values explain what the result measures.

Result fieldMeaning
Working daysDates eligible under the chosen weekend pattern and successfully loaded or custom closures.
Excluded datesWeekend and closure dates in the chosen range, counted once per date.
Holiday scopeCountrywide records or the explicitly selected subdivision; additional employer closures are entered separately.
WORKED EXAMPLE

A closure affects only an eligible weekday

January 1 to January 5, 2027 has two Monday-to-Friday dates with the end excluded. Excluding January 1 reduces the working-day count to one.

Try the example in the calculator above. Change one input at a time and compare the target, interval and selected rules. For a longer explanation read Calendar Days vs. Business Days: Choose the Right Count.

Conventions to keep with your result

National holiday data does not determine every employer’s working policy. Regional scope and custom closures matter. A weekend closure is not subtracted a second time.

Current dates keep moving forward. Today follows the selected calendar time zone. Rule-based Gregorian dates are generated for the requested year. A fixed input remains the visitor's chosen date. External holiday records require coverage for that year.

United States Business Days Calculator: frequently asked questions

Are holidays excluded automatically?

Only when a holiday source is selected and loaded for the requested years, or dates are entered manually. The result identifies the selected mode.

Can the week close Friday and Saturday?

Yes. Select that weekend pattern.

What if the source lacks a year?

The holiday-aware calculation reports the gap. Use confirmed custom dates or explicitly choose weekend-only mode.
