Convert seconds, minutes, hours, days and weeks. Months and years are calendar units rather than fixed durations.

How the result is calculated

Converted value = input × seconds per source unit ÷ seconds per destination unit

The calculator validates the required dates, units and range before producing a result. Keep the inputs and the selected convention with the output so another person can reproduce it.

How to read your result

Keep the inputs and conventions beside the answer. These values explain what the result measures.

Result fieldMeaning
Converted valueInput scaled by the exact relationship between the selected fixed-duration units.
Day conventionOne duration day is 24 hours; a calendar-day interval can answer another question.
PrecisionDisplayed decimals may be rounded; keep the original input and units for exact reproduction.
WORKED EXAMPLE

Decimal hours convert to minutes

8.5 hours × 60 = 510 minutes. The decimal half-hour is 30 minutes.

Try the example in the calculator above. Change one input at a time and compare the target, interval and selected rules. For a longer explanation read Elapsed Time Calculations: Hours, Minutes, Seconds and Overnight Ranges.

Conventions to keep with your result

Seconds, minutes, hours, fixed 24-hour days and seven-day weeks are duration units. Calendar months and years need actual dates and are not fixed-unit conversions.

Current dates keep moving forward. Today follows the selected calendar time zone. Rule-based Gregorian dates are generated for the requested year. A fixed input remains the visitor's chosen date. External holiday records require coverage for that year.
